Beyond 2015 events in New York

June 9, 2014 - June 20, 2014

Two important post-2015 Development Agenda discussions take place over the next two weeks.

Firstly, the President of the General Assembly (PGA) organised a High-level Event of the General Assembly on the Contributions of Human Rights and the Rule of Law (June 9-10). The objective of this event is to examine how human rights, including the right to development, and the rule of  law  at the national  and  international  levels,  can support an inclusive, people centred development agenda.

Secondly, the Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals (OWG) will be holding their 12th session  (16-20 June) to deepen discussions with the participation of governmental and non-governmental actors, in those four areas in which the co-chairs see a particular need for more work: equality, climate change, means of implementation, and peaceful and inclusive societies, rule of law and capable institutions.

Read Participate’s call to the President of the UN General Assembly to recognise the interconnected nature of social, economic, civil and political human rights or continue to deepen the poverty of people left behind.

Alongside the Beyond 2015 civil society campaign, Participate’s partner PRAXIS will be attending a variety of spaces to bring our core messages into these deliberations to search for the perspectives of the poorest and most marginalised are taken into account.
