Poverty Hearings in Malawi and Uganda

African Monitor supports community monitoring of development commitments at the grassroots level and works to bring African voices into policy debates. Poverty Hearings  is the methodology used by African Monitor to enable the voices and experiences of ordinary people to be heard on post 2015 MDGs. The Poverty Hearings are used as a powerful mechanism to connect the voices and experiences of people living in poverty to decision-makers. These voices are shared and heard in a public forum where lived experiences are shared with a panel of people of high social standing (including policy makers, private sector representatives, representatives of donor agencies, faith based leaders, among others) who are committed to ensuring that something is done about the issues coming out of the hearings.
